Arsenal 1-0 Everton: Kiss my Feet.

To be perfectly honest, overall Robin didn't have one of his best games. His first touch was sometimes slightly off and he didn't look sharp enough. Yet the best, and only the best, go and do what Robin did next. It was an absolute beauty of a goal. The volley was up there with his goal against Charlton (maybe not equal to it but still) and it found the bottom corner like a duck to water. I think because the finish was so good, not enough attention has been paid to Alex Song's pass. It was a delight, and from a defensive midfielder who has, this season, one of the highest counts of successful through balls. Song has matured tremendously, he used to go on stupid runs high up the pitch, get caught out of possession and cost us chances if not goals. He is now controlled, he looks for a pass instead of running himself, and from this we have discovered that not only does he have a great eye for a pass, but he's great at the execution as well. For me, that's why Scott Parker probably wouldn't have got into our side, especially with Jack Wilshere fit.

Before the game there were the 125th anniversary celebrations of our wonderful club. Some legends were shown to the crowd, bands played and overall, I think the club did a pretty good job. Chants of 'Rocky Rocky' and 'Thierry Henry' echoed around the North Bank which was really great to see.

Obviously, the most important thing was the three points. And that's what Robin served up for us. I also think our defence has improved tremendously and in this game we looked fairly secure. Vermaelen has worked absolute wonders since he's returned. He is a marvellous player and it was incredibly worrying to see him disappear down the tunnel after being subbed.
More on the game and I thought we started really well. We penetrated their defence on numerous occasions. It should've been more than one, with Gervinho, Ramsey and Theo missing superb chances. Some of them looked like open goals, but we still found a way of running in to each other. We were playing with a lot of confidence and it looked a certainty that we would grab a goal. Maybe that's why we dropped of the pace in the second half, we thought it was a certainty, but old Arsenal teams might have capitulated and lost or drawn the game. We kept our nerve, kept a good defence and kept a win and three points, without letting the opponents have a shot on target.
At the end of the game Szczesney gave us another one of his moments, as you can see by the picture. He has been brilliant for us, and it exactly what we need in many ways. His charisma Is heartening and the fans just live him more and more every game. Our improved defence is down no small part to the presence he has behind the sticks. Still young as well, Szczesney could play for Arsenal for more then a decade, and he doesn't look like budging from number one.

Now sitting behind me yesterday, was a right old fart. Possibly the most depressing Arsenal fan I have ever met. Every bad pass was met with a scream of 'BULLSH*T' and he went on and on about how he 'cant see us scoring today' and how 'if they score here I'm leaving now' (before half-time). I would like to encourage no-one to be around him. Partly because, if you go to a game, then everyone will think your a complete twat, and party because positivity is so much better than negativity. Even after the goal he was angry at something, and I was just pleased that we proved him wrong.
